The Beginning [His Daily Delight]

Intro:

When we study the Bible we note that people who were mentioned were not ordinary people. These were of those who were set apart and were called and chosen to do extraordinary things that changed the course of history. People who carried God's wisdom and knowledge. Joseph, Joshua, Solomon, Daniel, and Jesus were just a few of those whom we know had this divine tool.

We also must aqcuire the same wisdom to be effective and prosperous in our lives.

Hopefully by the end of this we’ll understand how much we need wisdom.

What is Wisdom?

In Hebrew the word wisdom is the word chokmah which means skillful, wisdom, wit.

According to Strong's it's biblical usage was for skill at war, wisdom for administration, to be sharp in judgement, prudence, and wisdom in ethical and religious affairs. Reflecting on this we can establish the fact that we need wisdom for pretty much any situation.

Where do we find it?

Although we can find wisdom throughout the Bible. Proverbs is one of the most well known wisdom books in the Bible and was written mostly by Solomon [heir of King David] and also contains additions by Agar [the son of Jakeh], and King Lemuel.

Yet a prime example of a person who sought out wisdom would be King Solomon.

In the case of Solomon he was given a kingdom which was inherited by his father David and given to him by God.

He had a call that was promised from God to his father David that Solomon was to build God's house and open spaces.[1Chron. 28:6]

This of course was a big task and in a dream the Lord asked Solomon what he wanted. Solomon responded with thought that he didn't know how to govern, much less multitudes of people, so he asked for an understanding heart to be able to judge the people and discern between good and evil.

God knew exactly that Solomon needed and He responded with the following:

"“Because you have asked this, and have not asked for yourself long life or riches or the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern what is right, behold, I now do according to your word. Behold, I give you a wise and discerning mind, so that none like you has been before you and none like you shall arise after you." 1 Kings 3:11-12

God gave Solomon Wisdom for the task at hand. And what was prophesied

In 1 Chronicles 22:9 was said to be fulfilled in 1 Kings 4:24.

“For he had dominion over all the region this side of the River from Tiphsah even to Gaza, namely over all the kings on this side of the River; and he had peace on every side all around him.”

So we see that his writings of proverbs are reliable principals to attain and succeed in the God given task. Of course we must keep this fact in mind, that all wisdom is given by God.

He is the source of all TRUE wisdom.

“For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth is knowledge and understanding.”

Proverbs 2:6

With this verse in mind let me remind you that in this series we will be seeking out what is wisdom, it’s nature and how it applies to our own God given tasks. Not excluding anything else we may discover.

Looking back the life of Solomon we can see that he wanted to do his best for the Lord so he sought out wisdom. So how much more us!

In the Bible we can note a few key things about wisdom as we start this journey which I would like us to keep in mind.

Wisdom is Principal.

"Wisdom is the Principal thing, Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding."

Proverbs 4:7

I like to read Proverbs first thing in the morning. It is a delight to my soul. Of course you can find wisdom from other books in Scripture. But I like that it gives clear strategies and principles of how the world around me works. I would suggest everyone take a daily dose of God's wisdom everyday. It'll definitely keep you from making a choice you may regret.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10

The fear of the Lord is definitely a topic! We will definitely be diving more into it.

In short summary of the fear of the Lord I can best put it into the imagery of a relationship is to not hurt the one you love. But that starts with an encounter. We must all have an encounter with God to learn how to please him and not hurt him. The fear of the Lord is also to be reverent of Him. And lastly hate only what He hates and love what He loves. It's definitely a process.

Wisdom was at the Beginning.

"The Lord possessed me at the beginning of His way, Before His works of old.

I have been established from everlasting, from the beginning, before there ever was an earth."

Proverbs 8:22

According to this verse we see how crucial wisdom was at the beginnings and was there even at the creation and establishment of the heavens and the earth. So with that saying we see how the wisdom which was with our Creator gives reliable insight of how this world works and gives us keys of how to use it to our advantage as ones who want His kingdom to rule on the earth.

"The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens."

Proverbs 3:19

Jesus was wisdom incarnate.

If you've read John it says the first Scripture says:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:1

This scripture speaks of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. So with that saying and looking back at Proverbs we see that Jesus was and is and will always be the wisdom of God.

And by His wisdom we know how to live on earth because He showed us. I would definitely encourage reading John 1:1-5 to understand that better. But if you're not convinced it is clearly stated in 1 Corinthians 1:24.

"Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God."

1Corinthians 1:24

Only by His doing you are in Christ Jesus who became to us wisdom by being the incarnate manifestation of the wisdom from God. With it He is also the righteousness and sanctification and redemption. [1 Corinthians 1:30]

Now God's wisdom is available to all of us through Jesus Christ. Who again is the POWER and WISDOM of God. Praise God!!!

Now in order to take authority and take what was promised to us the children of God [Rev. 5:10] we must possess wisdom first!

And Jesus is the key person to getting that wisdom.

Final Words.

So friend let me ask...

Has God called you to something? Are you embarking new territories in this season? Well you need God's wisdom to do it!

And it is freely available to you.

If you haven’t already received Jesus Christ, He is available for you to receive Him and with Him you are in right standing with the Father. He is the only way to Everlasting Life.

And He is the door to the wisdom you need.

Get Jesus = Get Wisdom!

Isn't this Great! We don’t have to be lost anymore we just need to take hold of what God has promised you and I.

So let’s go on this journey together to seek His wisdom, I pray it be a delight for you as you immerse yourself daily in it and seek it out.

Many Blessings to you,

Sound of Wonder
